We offer weekly and monthly rides on all types of terrain for all types of riders. Come join us for our “Sunday Social / Get To Know Us Ride” on the second Sunday of each month, or our “First Saturday of the Month” Calaveras Ride. Wednesday night Pizza rides during the summer months (May to September) are another favorite.
Check out our ride calendar for details, as well as the list of start locations with maps.
Ride Classification
FFBC offers rides for all types of riders. You can review the ride classification chart and guidelines to find a ride that is appropriate for your riding skill level.
Training Series
We offer various progressive ride series from January through April.
Progressive Ride Series
The Progressive Ride Series (PRS) is designed to get riders in condition to do a full century. This series starts in mid-January with shorter and flatter rides and gradually builds up to a full century, which is the Worker’s Ride in April and follow the Primavera route. Rainouts will not alter the schedule of the series. The emphasis is on an M pace, which will be offered for each ride. Other paces may or may not be supported; check each ride description in the calendar for full details.
Less Aggressive Progressive Ride Series
Want to train to ride a metric century with a fun group of people? Are some of the club rides too fast, especially when there is a lot of climbing? Try this Less Aggressive Progressive (LAP) series and you’ll be ready for metrics like the Tierra Bella or the Primavera Worker’s Ride. This series has fewer miles and less elevation gain than the traditional Progressive Series and is aimed at Touring/Moderate pace riders (especially those that climb at a
slower pace). The route sheet will be sent out via email to FFBC’s Yahoo Group about a week before each ride.
Cinderella Conditioning Series
The Cinderella Conditioning Series is similar to the LAP series, with a more moderate ride length and elevation gain on the rides. The rides are targeted toward women beginning riders but all are welcome and there is enough challenge for more experienced riders. These are no-drop rides at a Touring to Moderate pace with gradually increasing elevation and distance. Anyone who is comfortable in group setting and can maintain a touring pace is welcome.
Cinderella Coaching Series
Every year the FFBC runs the Cinderella Coaching Series. This weekly series of rides is designed to encourage women to learn to ride a bicycle safely in groups and to develop the skills needed to successfully complete the Valley Spokesmen’s Cinderella Classic.
The coaching program will start in early January. The 2018 Cinderella Classic is scheduled for Saturday March 39, 2019.
Primavera Century
For more than 40 years FFBC has been the proud sponsor of the popular Primavera Century. The Primavera is a club-supported bicycle tour of the local area.
The 45th edition of the Primavera is scheduled for Sunday April 23. Stay tuned for more details!
