Location: YMCA
Time: 7:40 PM
Minutes
The September meeting minutes were accepted as published in the October newsletter.
Treasurer
Carrie Payne gave the Treasurer’s report.
Race Team
Richard Brockie reported that the road season has ended and cyclocross season has begun. Jason Sage, a B category racer, is the only Team member participating in cyclocross.
Race Team shorts and hats were offered for sale to FFBC members.
Membership
Dave Ransom reported that the club has 410 members and 310 memberships.
Ride Coordinator
Ron Mitchell brought a draft calendar for November. Ron also announced a Thanksgiving Day ride led by Karen White and the annual 17 Mile Drive ride on the day after Thanksgiving.
Holiday Party
The holiday party will be held on December 4 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. There will probably be a time for socializing and hors d'oeuvres before dinner.
Primavera
Kevin Mahanna announced that the club needs a Primavera chair as well as people to fill other key positions. There will be a meeting to discuss this. Sally Wilson is arranging to get Logan High School. Barbara Fitzgerald volunteered to be in charge of the food, and Mike Northrup volunteered to serve as SAG Captain.
The Primavera will take place on April 23, 2005.
November Program
November’s meeting program will be a presentation by Lee Huo, the Alameda County representative for the San Francisco Bay Trail.
Special Moment
As a show of appreciation for her years of service, the Club presented Sally with a framed picture of George Hincapie winning a stage at this year’s Tour De France.
Newsletter
The club does not have a newsletter editor. There was discussion of breaking the task up into smaller tasks. A group will have a meeting to discuss this. It was also suggested that, if we do not have a complete newsletter, a printed copy of the ride schedule be distributed to bike shops and coffee houses where prospective members can find it.
New Jersey Design
Mary Lou Hicks asked for volunteers for a committee to pursue a new club jersey design. Jerseys with the new design would not be available for over a year. It was suggested that there be a contest to provide the jersey design. The Race Team uses a jersey similar to the FFBC jersey and would need to coordinate with the committee.
Program
Michael Graff, FFBC’s representative on the Bicycle Pedestrian Technical Advisory Committee (BPTAC) and Paul Knight, a fellow BPTAC member, briefed the club on BPTAC’s origins, initiatives and accomplishments.
