WEDNESDAY EVENING PIZZA RIDE

Come One! Come All! Join Darryl and Sally Wilson for the ever popular Wednesday evening Pizza Rides. For the month of June, the pizza rides will meet each week at Pizza Patio, located at 3395 Walnut Ave, Fremont, Between Paseo Padre Pkwy and Fremont Blvd. Parking immediately in front of the business is limited, so please use the larger adjacent parking lot. As always, there will be two routes; a longer more challenging ride, and a shorter flatter ride. The rides meet at 6:00 PM for sign in to be completed by 6:10. When signing in, remember to check “YES” or “NO” on the sign in sheet for pizza so we have an accurate head count on who is staying after the ride. The Pizza Order is placed before we depart. Departure time is 6:15 sharp. The cost is $5.00 per person and that includes three pieces of Pizza and a soda per rider.

Please pair up with riders of similar abilities, and help each other so that no one is left riding or fixing a flat alone.

Sun. June 11 John’s Birthday, Mt. Hamilton Challenge
7:15 AM 44 miles (71 KM), 4800 ft Climbing, 4 M
OK so it ‘s only 71 KM, but a lot of moderately steep climbing. Park in the Penitencia Park Parking lot (off of Berryessa St.). To minimize the possible June heat we will head up promptly at 7:30 through White Rd, McKee Rd, Alum Rock Rd and up Mt. Hamilton Road. We will regroup at Grant Park, the CDF Fire Station, and at the Lick Observatory at the top. Bring plenty of water, “Gu”, and other snacks, there is not much at Lick. Be sure to use sunscreen since the top half of the road is not shaded. We will descend CAREFULLY the same way we came, and end up for a free picnic with birthday cake at Penitencia Park. It will help me plan if you will RSVP by June 9 at my email jgoeschl@aol.com.
Total climbing is about 4800 ft in three segments, and definitely at a low M pace. We have two Mt. Hamilton rides this month – for a more brisk pace see Saturday 6/17.

Sun. Jun 11 Jim's Graduation Ride
9:00 AM 30 Miles, 1-2, L-M
Florence Silver and Karen White are planning a celebration, barbecue and ride to commemorate Jim Herman's graduation from San Jose State. Jim likes the idea of a fairly short, flat ride for people who would like to visit his alma mater. Jim plans to provide a short tour of the buildings where he spent the last two years. Following the ride, we will return to the Silver's for a barbecue. Hamburgers, hot dogs and turkey burgers will be provided but would like guests to bring a dish, i.e., salad, cold drinks, paper plates, etc., plus a swim suit for a dip in their pool but no gifts. Please phone Florence for directions and to let us know you plan to attend and the dish you will be bringing. For anyone wishing to attend the celebration but skip the ride, plan to arrive for the barbecue and party around 12:30 p.m.
