WEDNESDAY EVENING PIZZA RIDE
Come One! Come All! Join Team of Neil & Molly Michelfelder, and John Goeschl for the ever popular Wednesday evening Pizza Rides. For the month of July, the pizza rides will meet each week at Me and Ed’s Pizza, located in the plaza at the intersection of Decoto Road and Fremont Blvd. Parking immediately in front of the business is limited, so please enter the second driveway on Decoto and park in the back. Neil and Molly will host the first two weeks while John will host the last two. As always, there will be two routes; a longer more challenging ride, and a shorter flatter ride. The rides meet at 6:00 PM for sign in to be completed by 6:10. When signing in, remember to check “YES” or “NO” on the sign in sheet for pizza so we have an accurate head count on who is staying after the ride. The Pizza Order is placed before we depart. Departure time is 6:15 sharp. The cost is $5.00 per person and that includes three pieces of Pizza and a soda per rider.
Please pair up with riders of similar abilities, and help each other so that no one is left riding or fixing a flat alone.

8:30 AM 1-2 M, 25 to 38 miles
Let's meet at the Bicycle Garage at 8:30 for an 8:45 start to an easy-going ride down Paseo Padre to South Grimmer. Then it's relatively flat down past Club Sport to the end of Fremont Blvd. We'll turn around and have a coffee break at a local Starbucks and decide whether to head straight back (for about 25 miles) or make our way over to Coyote Hills for a trip back on the trail (for about 38 miles). The shorter option will get us back before 11:30, the longer well before 12:30. Elevation gain is 465 feet. Rain or threat of rain cancels. If rain threatens, call me between 7:30 and 8:00 on the day of the ride.

Tue. July 4 Palomares--Have It Your Way
8:15 AM 4 M, 35 miles, 2400'
Join me for a favorite holiday ride--Palomares and Kilkare. To avoid ending the ride on Niles Canyon road, we'll try something different for this ride: a start at the Sunol School, leaving promptly at 8:30, and riding down Niles Canyon, regrouping at the top of Palomares, Dublin Canyon, and Kilkare and making a rest stop at Foothill Park. As an extra bonus, and so as to not inconvenience the main group, if you call me in advance, I'll stop at the northwest corner of the intersection of Palomares and Niles Canyon at 8:50 to pick up the folks who want to ride from Niles and don't mind riding on their own in the holiday traffic on the way home. The riders who join us will sign the sign-up sheet and we'll begin our climb of Palomares where we'll join up with the main group. There are no planned snack stops before a return to Sunol but some of us may chose to linger at the Sunol convience store for the required potato chip fix. The ride officially ends in Sunol. As usual, B riders and a B ride leader are welcome. Rain or threat of rain cancels. If rain threatens, call me between 7:00 and 7:25 on the day of the ride.

PREVIEW FOR AUGUST
1) Get your September rides in early. The ride coordinator will be out of town for a large part of the month.
2) We are looking for volunteers to lead the Pizza rides for August and possibly September
PREVIEW BEYOND AUGUST
1) Club Picnic and Rides; Keep Sunday September 17 open for the annual Fremont Freewheelers Bicycle Club Picnic in Alum Rock Park. As in past years we will have rides for all levels starting at various distances from Alum Rock Park so there are rides for all abilities. More details will follow.
2) Day After Thanksgiving Ride in the Monterey area; Shelley will lead the L-T pace group, and I have a pile of route sheets to use up from last year so let’s all hope it does not rain this year!
