Minutes
The August 2006 Board Meeting minutes were approved.
Primavera
John Goeschl will chair the 2007 Primavera and updated the Board on the plans. April 22, 2007 is the tentative date. The date has been selected to avoid conflicts with other centuries and must be confirmed with Logan High School. Mike Northrup and John will start from scratch on routes and use GPS technology to develop them. Club rides will preview parts of the route. Karen White and Ed Tanaka will serve as the Volunteer Coordinator and Food Coordinator respectively. After securing Logan, John will get permits for other sites. EBBC is addressing the issue of parade permits required by Alameda County. EBBC and its lawyer are drafting a permit for organized rides that presumably will be different than a permit required for races. FFBC will be prepared in case a permit is required.
Club Picnic
A member must be at Alum Rock Park by 10:00 AM. Karen will ask for a volunteer at the membership meeting.
Accident Guidelines
Draft guidelines for ride leaders to follow in case of an accident had been distributed to the Board. The Board discussed whether or not to post the guidelines on the club web site. It was decided to ask the club’s insurance carrier to review the guidelines before posting them. Karen will forward the guidelines to the insurance company.
Ride Coordinator
September pizza rides had been canceled. After a few members volunteered to lead, pizza rides were scheduled for September.
Jim Herman is the nominee for Ride Coordinator for 2006-2007. Ron Mitchell will work with Jim on the October ride calendar.
Celebrate Fremont
FFBC will not be participating in Celebrate Fremont, an event commemorating the city’s 50 th anniversary.
FFBC List
The Board discussed the possibility of establishing guidelines regarding the content of messages posted to the FFBC list. Richard Brockie will research best practices of NewsGroups and report back to the Board.
Race Team
Jason Sage is the Race Team Manager and the nominee for Race Team Liaison for 2006-2007.
October Program
Karen will speak to Joel Davis, proprietor of Cyclepath, about demonstrating bike sizing for the club at the October meeting.
November Program
Bert and Florence Silver will present slides of their RAGBRAI trip.
FFBC Web Page
Karen asked for a liaison to report to the Board on FFBC web page content. Joel Davis has asked for the FFBC web page to have a link to the Cyclepath web page similar to the links already in place for other bike shops. Richard Brockie suggested that Mike Northrup follow up with bike shops that offer discounts to FFBC members and should have hyperlinks on the club web page. Cyclepath has not mailed any information to FFBC members so far.
