FFBC Board Meeting
Location: REI
Date: October 5, 2006
Attendees: Karen White, Ron Mitchell, Jim Herman, Jason Sage, Sydney Friedenberg, Conni Smith, John Goeschel (guest)
Minutes
The September 2006 Board Meeting Minutes were approved.
Budget
Sydney Friedenberg reported there was little activity in September with only one new membership received and $783+ in expenses for the Club picnic. She distributed the “FFBC Budget Proposal – 10/06-10/07”, correcting one error by raising the Primavera Income Actuals to $30,000.
Jason Sage reported that the bill from the City of Fremont for services for the Race Team’s Criterium may total $6,000 and may not be received before the end of the year, if at all. Race Team expenses were raised to $20,000 to accommodate this expected expense. Jason suggested a $1,000 donation to the City if no bill is received.
Expecting a newly designed Club jersey, the Board added $5,000 to the Clothing budget.
Karen White presented a Donation Guidelines and requested Board approval. After discussion, the Board approved the Guidelines and added a new Donations line item for $2,000 to the 2006-2007 budget. No Primavera-related donations are to be distributed from this amount.
The Board discussed and retained the 2005-2006 budget ($1,200) for a Digital Projector.
The budget line item for Honorariums ($250) was rolled into the Miscellaneous line item for budget year 2006-2007.
Following the above-mentioned changes, the Board approved the 2006-2007 budget.
Primavera
John Goeschl, chairperson for Primavera 2007, presented a Primavera planning progress report. April 22, 2007 is the confirmed date. Verbal permissions from most locations are confirmed and permit forms, as required, have been obtained. The one-day insurance policy is pending.
Ride Coordinator
Jim Herman discussed plans to proceed with the previously approved plans for a monthly gift lottery for ride leader incentives/awards. He also mentioned plans to coordinate the Club’s various lists and policies into one accessible location.
FFBC Yahoo List
Jason Sage presented, and the Board discussed guidelines regarding the appropriateness of on-line discussions and club liability. These will be posted on line.
Race Team
Jason Sage reported he had discussed the possibility of the Race Team obtaining nonprofit, tax-exempt status, but at the same time, continuing its relationship with FFBC with a tax accountant. He plans to approach the Race Team about forming a committee to explore this and to present its findings to the FFBC Board in the future.
