FROM THE SUMMIT
Winter has certainly made a very audacious entrance as I sit at my computer composing this note. Of course, approximately 35 smiling club members are happy that this grand show was staged for today rather than on November 24 which would have affectively ruined an otherwise beautiful day to bicycle along the 17-Mile Drive. I have never enjoyed an early dinner at Phil’s Fish House that tastes better than one following 30 miles riding along the beautiful California coast. The day was a bit crisp but the shimmering ocean, perfect white caps, and the views from Point Lobos made the journey memorable.
Just a reminder, our annual holiday party is scheduled for Sunday, December 3. Hope you have all put this date on your calendar, put aside your gift for the white elephant gift exchange and remembered to let Susan Lucchesi know you will be there. As in years past, this party replaces our December club and Board meeting.
Planning for the Cinderella Training Rides is underway with a request for volunteers to act as ride leaders, bike check and rodeo assistants. Bonnie Kellogg has assembled a crew of veteran women cyclists to help make 2007 a year to remember. Training for ride leaders will be conducted in December and early January and it is advised that women wishing to help as ride leaders pick a day to attend one of these training sessions.
Many of you may recall that during FFBC’s budget planning meeting in October, a $2,000. line item was placed on the 2007 budget for donation proposals to be made to local or state-wide organizations that would help FFBC meet our club’s purpose outlined in Article II of the Constitution and By-Laws. We are looking for volunteers to serve on a committee to investigate institutions meeting the specific criteria outlined in the FFBC Donations Procedures and Guidelines found at http://www.fremontfreewheelers.org/docs/FFBCDonationsProcedure.pdf. If you believe a particular local or state-wide organization warrants our donation, please contact a Board member and your name will be considered for membership on this committee.
See you on the road.
