Cindy07 Training Ride Series got off to a great start on Saturday January 13 with an orientation at the Bicycle Garage in Fremont. Bonnie Kellogg represented the Coordination Committee in outlining the goals of the ten week series that starts with a ten mile ride on 1/20 and culminates one week before the Valley Spokesmen’s Cinderella Classic on March 31st. (Please note: you MUST pre-registered to participate in these weekly rides.)
Joyce Tanaka presented some excellent nutritional tips, summarized in a 2 page PDF flyer on the Cindy007 website. Following the “food & water” stuff, Kathi Goodman modeled as Joyce gave us some guidelines for dressing for all sorts of weather conditions.
We had the Bicycle Rodeo, this year assisted by CyclePath Bicycle Shop with stores in Hayward and Pleasanton.
A summary of the morning’s events would not be complete without acknowledging the following vendors for their support and contributions:
- The Bicycle Garage (a warm spot to meet, clean bathrooms and good service)
- Harbor Light Church for generous permission to use their parking lot for weekly parking and for our Rodeo.
- Noah’s Bagels (mmmmm delicious) for the breakfast we all enjoyed
- Starbucks Coffee (slurp, slurp)
- The makers of Luna Bars for the 700 bars we will have on the road during the next 10 weeks
- CyclePath for setting up bike checks at the Rodeo
- ALL THE MEMBERS OF FFBC WHO WERE OUT THERE THIS MORNING IN THE COLD HELPING RIDERS FIT AND TEST THEIR BICYCLES!!!
