FROM THE SUMMIT
Greetings all,
The month of November is upon us. The days are getting shorter and the weather has turned. Since I last addressed you, I have experienced my first snowfall (in Tahoe) and my first ride in the rain in many months. The race team has begun their training rides and Dan Amaral has started his Wednesday night rides. I have had to dig out my cap, vest and arm warmers for several brisk east bay mornings. I wonder how many more clothes I will have to find by the start of next month...
Almost as soon as you read this, we will be holding our monthly meeting at the Sillman Center in Newark. If you have not been to the Sillman Center for a club meeting, I strongly encourage all to come and interact with fellow club members, some of whom you may meet for the first time. One is sure to meet both old and new club members who share enthusiasms. I met my auto mechanic at one of the meetings and now he's several thousand dollars richer and I have a well running auto.
Holding club meetings at the Sillman Center allows for the room for almost any number of members to attend, as well as the use of a brand new multimedia system. To accent our meetings, I have arranged a schedule of "guest" speakers and presentations. While we will still devote a portion of the meetings to club business, the main body of the meeting with be the speaker and presentation. Brad Baldwin will start off the series with a photo essay of a recent trip to Moab and riding the White Rim Trail, as well as his famous "birthday ride". Surely, not an event to be missed.
During this month's meeting we will be voting on the yearly budget, as well as talking about the upcoming holiday party. Be sure to check your inboxes for Florence's holiday party invitations. The invitations are going out by Evite this year. Don't forget to email Jim Herman with any updated contact information so that we can keep the database current.
I hope to see many of you at the meetings.
Keep on riding,

Jeff G
