FROM THE SUMMIT

Happy New Year everyone!
Now that the holidays, traveling, binge eating and drinking are over, I can refocus my energy and once again concentrate on matters closer to home. It is a new year. New years always seem to come with some type of resolutions. Some resolutions I have heard recently include some manner of: losing weight, getting in shape, making more money and traveling more. Having made and broken so many resolutions in the past, I now refuse to make any at all.
I stopped making resolutions because of the implied firmness of the word. Instead of making resolutions, I make goals for the upcoming year. At this time of the year some goals are loftier than others. I try to remember to start small, with goals that will be attainable, and work up from there. I have found that also having one big goal for the year gives me something to work toward. It may be it a cycling goal, a financial goal, or professional goal but I always try to work toward something.
I am very excited about this year and have set a couple of goals to accomplish. I would like to hold longer out of town rides and help establish a "sag" stipend for people willing to aid club rides in these places. I will work to revise the website with a fresher look, while maintaining the ease of use we are all accustomed to. I will be working to find a way to increase membership and turnout at our meetings. I also want to increase our involvement as well as our exposure in the community.
Whether you want to call it a goal or a resolution, the New Year is about change and taking steps to improve upon what you accomplished last year. With your support and involvement we can make this organization better every year.
Keep on riding,
