BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Members Meeting of the Fremont Freewheelers Bicycle Club
Date: January 3, 2008
Time: 7:30 pm
Location: Silliman Center, Newark
The President opened the meeting and the November minutes were approved. Doug Edwards from Fremont introduced himself as a new rider with the Club.
Membership
With the new year is the beginning of a new membership list. Dave Ransom said there were about 5 current, paid members and reminded members it’s time to pay their annual dues.
Ride Coordinator
Jim Herman announced upcoming events:
- Jan. 26 Sports Basement invitation to all club members for a ride, a barbeque and a 20% storewide discount. More information is available on the January Ride Calendar;
- Progressive Rides start Sunday, Jan. 13 and continue until the Primavera on April 27. Eric Dittmar is the coordinator for these rides. See details on the January Ride Calendar.
- The February Ride Calendar is open for ride listings.
- Dale Blanchard is coordinating a two-day Pigeon Point Ride later this year. A per person fee of approximately $35 will include food, SAG and an overnight stay at Pigeon Point. Dale has planned alternate routes with varying intensity to and from Fremont. This event is limited to 35 people. Contact Dale for more information and reservations.
Ride Leader Drawings for November and December 2007: Al Quintana and Jim Herman won $25 gift certificates for REI.
Treasurer
Jean O’Donnell reported the following:
Checking account: $8,894 - includes $5,000 form Sugar CRM for Race Team sponsorship.

Clothing Sales
Ed Tanaka and Mary Lou reported that the new club jerseys are expected next month. The Board decided at tonight’s meeting to sell them at the Club’s cost: $47.50.
Primavera
Joyce Tanaka announced the following:
- Registration on active.com begins April 12. On-line pre-registration is $38; pre-registration by mail is $35; same-day registration is $45;
- Primavera jerseys will sell for $55 and may be viewed on the Primavera website shortly;
- Volunteers are needed at all locations, set up and clean up; volunteer forms are on the FFBC website. Karen White is the volunteer coordinator.
- Tony Flusche has lined up the Radio Club to help with SAG communications.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.

Dale Blanchard presented a fascinating slide show of his 2001 bicycle excursion in the Tibetan region of China.

Treasurer (Jean O’donnell)
Checking account: $8,894 - includes $5,000 form Sugar CRM for Race Team sponsorship.

Ride Coordinator (Jim Herman)
- The Sports Basement in Sunnyvale has invited FFBC members to enjoy food, drinks and 20% shopping discount on Saturday, January 26. Jim Herman has planned rides of various length and speed for the morning. Details are on the January Ride Calendar. Ride leaders may volunteer at any time;
- Jim announced he will lead a ride to the Amgen Prologue in Palo Alto on Sunday, February 17.
- In addition to the $25 REI gift certificate awarded for the monthly ride leader drawing, there will be a second monthly ride leader drawing for a current FFBC jersey (while supplies last).
Donations Committee (Jim Herman)
An announcement inviting members to participate on the Donations Committee or to make recommendations on how to spend the $2,000 budgeted for donations, will be published in the February Newsletter. The Committee will meet later in the month. Contact is Jim Herman.
Race Team (Jason Sage)
- Training rides are going well; team has picked up two juniors and a new master rider;
- The Teams’ custom bike frames are due to arrive in February;
- The date for the criterium is set for Saturday, June 7 and will be financed by title sponsor, Sugar CRM;
- Early Bird training races start the first weekend in January and are held at Dumbarton Circle in Newark.
- A get-to-know-the-team event will be held on January 27.
NEW BUSINESS
New Club Jersey
Mary Lou Hicks announced that the new club jerseys will arrive in February. FFBC’s price per jersey is $47.50 and the Board approved the motion to sell the jerseys at cost.
Business Cards (Jeff Girard)
FFBC business cards will arrive in a few weeks and will be available to members. Price was $27 for 1,000 cards.
