FROM THE SUMMIT

Greetings all,

It is good to be back writing after a couple of months away.  This month, I am proud to be addressing you as your club president for a second term.  It has been a busy end of summer and beginning of fall.  Between working, the baby, traveling, and purchasing a new home, I feel that I have barely had time to ride my bike.  My odometer tells me that I am logging between 120 and 150 miles per week, a big difference from the 200-240 miles per week just one year ago.  Such is life.  As many of you with an infant know, a new baby's smile can keep you at home rather than on your bike.

I am sure that many of you are aware of some new faces on the board of directors.  I wish to welcome Gary Smith to the position of vice president, Connie Nelson to the position of treasurer and Pedal Pounder manager, and Brian Meiers to the position of race team director.   I want to welcome Burcu Alaybeyi as editor of The Spoken Truth and Mark Davis to the position of webmaster.  I want to thank the outgoing board and all of our volunteers for all of their hard work this past year.  Without all of you, this organization could not operate.

The new website is close to completion.  Unfortunately, nothing that involves artistic expression, a committee and a developer ever happens as quickly as one hopes.  I am optimistic that the new site will be up and operational soon, although probably not by the time you read this.  The website will be a great improvement, and an evolving project over time.  Our goal is to have an organized site that will be easy to navigate and that we can update and change as our needs or tastes change.  Once the site goes live, your feedback will be very important.  Stay tuned.

Also on the horizon is the club picnic on October 5th.  Please check the homepage and the ride calendar for details about the day.  Thank you to Becky Denevan and Conni Smith for all of their hard work with organizing this event.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the picnic.

See you on the road,

Jeff G
President, FFBC
