Members Meeting of Fremont Freewheelers Bicycle Club

CALL TO ORDER:
Jeff Girard called the meeting to order. No minutes were taken at the August meeting.
Jeff made a few announcements: Bert & Florence Silver recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and Ken & Iris Goldman celebrated their 40th. Less joyful news was that two popular ride start locations, Newark Java and Pizza Patio have closed their businesses.

Ride Coordinator: Jim Herman announced that the October Ride Calendar is open for new listings. Rides for all levels are planned for the morning of the Club picnic, Sunday, October 5. These will likely start and end near Quarry Lakes. Watch for these on the October Ride Calendar.

Sydney Friedenberg and Mary Lou Hicks presented the FFBC officer nominations for fiscal year 2008-2009. There were no new nominations from the floor. Voting was held by a show of hands.

NEW BUSINESS
New FFBC Website: Jeff will distribute a mockup of the new FFBC website to the current and new Board members and to the website committee for final review. He hopes to have it replace the current site in mid-October. The old website will be archived in case of future need.
Annual Club Picnic: The picnic is on Sunday, October 5 at Quarry Lakes Regional Park in Fremont. Members and their families are welcome. There is a $5 RSVP fee for adults, payable to FFBC. Check the Calendar for Club rides that will end at or near the park in time the 12:30 pm lunch. Armadillo Willy’s BBQ will cater this event. An accurate headcount is needed – please RSVP by October 25 to Conni Smith at conni_75@hotmail.com or 510-471-8047.
Primavera: Jan Green announced Sunday, April 19 as a preliminary date for the Primavera. Availability of Logan High School is still in question.

Jean also presented a draft budget for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. This proposal will be discussed at the next Board and members meetings in October. After any changes, members will vote on adopting the budget.
RACE TEAM
Brian announced that as the new president of the Race Team, he will join the FFBC Board as the Race Team representative. Richard Brockie is the new Team treasurer.
Racing is going well with several recent strong performances.
New Race Team sponsors include: Chipolte Mexican Grill, Integrate Fitness, Lagunitas Brewery and, potentially, Toyota of Fremont.
The Team’s new jersey design for 2009 will display closer connections to FFBC with the Club’s name in large letters and prominent placement.
Although this year’s Criterium was cancelled, the Race Team will hold a time trial event on October 4, starting in Sunol, going up and back down the Calaveras grade.
OLD BUSINESS
The Cornelius Lopes litigation matter was dismissed. The 30 days allowed for appeal is almost over.
NEW BUSINESS
