We had planned it for months, to The Tour we would venture
 Ride our bikes up Sierra, watch the race. Sheer pleasure!
 But the weather had changed, from springtime in winter
 To rainy, wet days, now our journey was hindered

The plan was now altered. Once a ride, now a walk
 We enjoyed the "silver lining;"  for now we could talk!
 And banter we did as we hiked up Sierra
 All clad in our raingear, sans the Tiaras

 The weather grew pleasant, on our hike up the mountain
 Sweaty, we were. Needed drinks from a fountain
 The refreshment we sought, came too soon from the clouds
 As we reached the KOM points line and soggy, drenched crowds

   Now was the time to find the right spot
 To capture some pictures of the TOC lot
 A place on the hill that might thwart their speed
 Slow down these fast men for the pictures we NEED!

 Like buckets it fell, all that rain from the clouds
 But we danced and we cheered. Passing tour cars were wowed
 Get the cameras set up, for propellors we heard
 Helicopters approaching, or very large birds

 First Francisco Mancebo and his breakaway crew
 Astana soon followed, their train led the groups
 We glimpsed Chris, George, Lance, Floyd, Thor, and numerous others
 The Saxo Bank echelon, with their two famous brothers

 More riders did pass, there were gaps in between
 But the sweeper van came, all the riders we'd seen
 So the journey continued, as we hiked down the hill
 Leaving star struck, eating cookies; the whole day was a THRILL!
