Members Meeting of Fremont Freewheelers Bicycle Club

CALL TO ORDER
Jeff Girard called the meeting to Order and welcomed new Club Members and Visitors.
REPORTS
Membership Report: Dave Ransom reported that the club has 328 paid members. Membership sign ups are on the increase, we look forward to a prosperous 2009.
Ride Coordinator: Jim Herman reported the ride calendar is open for April, ride leaders are needed. The Primavera is on the calendar April 19th. Ride Leader Drawing winners:
- Karen White- December – gift certificate
- Tim & Robin O’Hara – December Jersey winners
- Dave Epps January – gift certificate
Treasurer’s Report: Jean O’Donnell reported bank account balances and expenses for Primavera, Race Team and Jersey’s.
Primavera: Ron Mitchell reported on the events progress, April 19th. Registration opened Jan. 1st Fees $45 & $55, there are 375 riders registered to date. Volunteers are needed, the start location Logan High and rest stops need support. Rest stops include Coyote Hills, Ed Levin, Sunol Glen, Le Garre Winery, Paloverde. The lunch planning and preparation is at Logan High. The routes will be marked April 4th. SAG (Support and Gear) – need 4 passenger vehicles and bike racks. Jersey’s are ordered. The traditional breads and cookie bakers and contributors need to fill out a form, each rest stop will have baked goods. Brad Baldwin developed and will hand out the event posters and brochures. Brochures are available and include registration, waiver and disclaimer, contact Jan Green and active.com
Race Team: Mountain Bike Race Team update - reported by team member.
Brenda Gambina’s Funeral: Took place today in Hayward, club members rode in the procession on bicycles.
Tour de Cure Event: - Bill with Lifescan presenting - June 14th 2009. March 24th kickoff meeting – Garden Court Hotel – Palo Alto.
New FFBC Website launched today: Send pictures to Jeff Girard & Mark Davis for posting.
Bicycle Garage: New location Blacow and Mowry
Cinderella Training 2009:
100K Classic – 9 groups Saturdays January 17th – March 28th ’09. March 28th concludes the training sessions, a graduation ceremony is scheduled for all trainees.
Fund Raiser: A Swap was proposed as a fund raiser.
Worldly Wanda Bicycle Tour: The second annual tour is 10 mile, 50K, 50 Mile Saturday March 28th. www.aauwfremontbranch.org AAUW - Legal expenses for women discriminations in the work place. There are 3 planned rest stops, SAG and lunch. There were 87 riders in 2008. This is a Co-ed event – registration begins on Active.com registration the fee is $32.00 and $25.00 for youth – same day registration additional $5.00.

CALL TO ORDER
Jeff Girard called the meeting to order, the December minutes were approved.
REPORTS
Treasurer’s Report: Jean O’Donnell reported bank account balances. Reporting included 2 CD’s and Checking Account Balances. A final budget review for 2008-2009 for expenses was introduced.
Primavera: Suggestions for advertising – Bike Cal advertising in place for March issue.
An ad has been placed on East Bay coalition. Registration is anticipated between 600-700.
Bike Cal includes a course about how to conduct an event. There was Discussion regarding the success of an event for 2009 & 2010. Monthly prep meetings are suggested, a year around event site should be active. There may be some problems with Calaveras Road construction for 2010.
Cinderella Progressive Rides: January-March 2009; A graduation/celebration event is scheduled March 28th.
Race Team: Brian reported the first of four events are scheduled April 4th – Altamonte and back. The race team volunteered SAG for the Primavera.
Ride Coordinator: Jim Herman reported 6 gift certificates were purchased for $50.00 each.
Brenda Gambina’s funeral took place today. The Board agreed to make a $100 donation to St. Edwards School where Brenda worked for 28 years. A signed card from the Club will be included along with the donation.
Club, Team and Member Insurance coverage discussion will be continued at the April 2nd meeting.
The Winter Party for 2008-2009 event took place February 21st.
The next Club meetings are confirmed April 2nd 2009
