FROM THE SUMMIT
Greetings all,
April showers do bring May flowers. Apart from some recent patchy rain showers the past week, the weather has been perfect for riding. I have been getting a taste of what summer will be like here in Concord: hot and more hot. I have been fortunate enough to squeak in an early morning ride here and there while my daughter is asleep. I enjoy the challenge of learning new roads, both flat and hilly. There seem to be more than enough roads and trails here to keep me busy for quite some time.
As many of you already know, we hosted our marquee event a couple of weeks ago: the Primavera. I was quite impressed with the turnout for the event. I am sure that a forecast of sun was partly to thank for the amount of riders. That being said, there were many riders that pre-registered without knowing what the weather was going to be like. I was able to talk to a lot of cyclist that day about why they choose to come to the Primavera. There were many reasons listed. Many riders stated that they loved the challenge of the 100 mile route. Others mentioned that they liked the variety of routes provided and the family friendly atmosphere. Still others mentioned the beauty of the East Bay hills and the lack of traffic on our roads. One person mentioned the strawberries at the Paloverde rest stop...
Perhaps the most frequent comment I received as to why people come to ride the Primavera is that we, as an organization, put on a great event. I received so many compliments on how friendly everyone was and how we have managed to host, with success and consistency, an event like the Primavera. For those that volunteered, thank you. It is because of you the Primavera is as successful as it is. There is so much that goes into an event of this size and you should all be proud of what you have accomplished.
Thank you all for helping make this organization what it is today.
See you on the road.
