FROM THE SUMMIT
Greetings FFBC Friends,
We all like to see a variety of rides when we look at the monthly Ride Calendar. In order for that to happen, we need plenty of ride leaders. We have a few members, such as Al, Mike and Lori, who lead at least one ride per week. Some of us lead rides regularly or at least once in a while. We also have quite a few members who ride regularly with the club and haven’t led a ride or haven’t led one in a long time.
If you’re a ride leader, think about what motivated or inspired you to lead your first ride. By sharing these thoughts, maybe we can encourage others to lead rides. At a club meeting a few years ago, the Ride Coordinator pointed out that some in attendance had participated in many rides but hadn’t led one. I knew that applied to me. I planned a ride and listed it in the Ride Calendar. A few people showed up, the ride went well, and it encouraged me to lead more rides.
If you’re not a ride leader, think about leading a ride. You could lead a ride in the month of your birthday. If each of us did that, think about how many choices it would add to our Ride Calendar. Also, when you lead a ride, you’re eligible for the ride leader drawing held at the monthly meeting. You might find that leading a ride is more fun than you would expect, and your fellow riders will appreciate it.
Ideally we can have more planned rides and fewer Show and Go listings in our Ride Calendar.
Enjoy riding and have a great Thanksgiving!
