Alum Rock Gopher Lunch

Inspired by our fellow FFBCers who enjoy a good ride, good company, and GOOD FOOD, Heather Black, Marcella Casebolt, Julie Gilson, and Vanessa McDonnell, four of the ‘Gophers’ (Get Out'N Pedal Hard Every Ride Sisterhood) catered lunch and baked goodies for Lori Summers’ September 3 Thursday Coffee ride as their kick-off fundraising event for their ride next June in the 2010 AIDS LifeCycle 9 (‘ALC’).

The hostesses: Heather Black, Vanessa McDonnell, Marcella Casebolt

After being greeted at Alum Rock park with music, awnings, comfy camping chairs, tablecloths and smiles, twenty-two riders enjoyed lunch and other goodies: made-to-order sandwiches with garden fresh tomatoes, iced homemade lemonade and freshly brewed coffee – are you hungry yet? Dessert choices were homemade cookies, muffins and zucchini bread.  The plan is to do it again next month with lunch at Grant Park. The ALC Gophers thank everyone who attended and got our fundraising off to a good start.

Enjoying lunch

Relaxing

Our ‘gopher-laureate’ penned:
‘We decided this to be the year,
for one fantastic trek.
To find a cure, to ride with friends,
we figured - what the heck!

The fundraising is the hardest part,
but we’re full of ideas;
Our 1st try was the Bake Sale.
At Alum Rock – did you see us?

The date was Thursday, the 3rd
We had coffee and some treats,
some sandwiches, some lemonade,
cold water, and some sweets.

Thanks for coming to support our fundraising
And donating to our cause
We look forward to seeing you next month at Grant Park
And serving you as you pause.’
