FROM THE SUMMIT

Enthusiasm for cycling is what brings us together as a club.  This enthusiasm leads some to compete in races.  It leads others to ride recreationally, for fitness, for transportation or for other reasons.  Many of us like the camaraderie a club ride offers.  Some of us enjoy cycle touring.  I’ve been on a number of tours with a few different tour companies as well as an unsupported trip with a group of friends.  If you haven’t been on a cycling tour, I recommend trying it.  It’s a great way to see places you haven’t seen before.  When you’re on a bike, it’s easy to pull over to get a better look at your surroundings as well as to take pictures.  I went on my first cycling trip in Italy last year.  I enjoyed it so much that I’m going there again this year.  When you go on a cycling trip, you don’t know what you might see, who you might meet or what surprises lie in store for you.  A cycling trip is a great way to enjoy new experiences   and challenge yourself.

The Primavera takes place next month.  It’s a major source of revenue for our club.  We want the Primavera riders to have a great day.  We need plenty of volunteers to make that happen.  If you have already volunteered, thank you.  If you have not volunteered yet, please do so as soon as possible.

Daylight Saving Time starts this month.  If you like riding in the late afternoon or early evening, this means you’ll have more daylight for your ride.  It also means that our popular Pizza Rides will begin in the not-too-distant future.

Weather permitting, I’ll see you on a ride soon.
