BOARD MEETING MINUTES
FFBC BOARD MEETING
DATE: February 4, 2010
ATTENDANCE
Gary Smith (President), Iris Goldman (Treasurer), Karen White (Member at Large), Lori Sommer (Secretary), Jorge Gildelatorre (Ride Calendar), Garry Birch (Race Team President/Club Liaison)
CALL TO ORDER / MINUTES
Gary Smith called the Board Meeting to order at 6:35PM. The meeting adjourned at 7:29PM. Minutes for the previous month were approved.
TREASURER REPORT
Iris reported the balances for the three accounts: Bank of America Checking, Bank of America CD and Fremont Bank CD. She will post them in the Yahoo group for members to access and review.
RIDE COORDINATOR
Jorge Gildelatorre is trying to encourage more members to lead rides on the weekends. The Progressive Rides do not have a listed ride leader but will continue; he will send out routes to members that request them. Incentive drawings will take place at the General Meeting.
RACE TEAM
Garry Birch stated the Early Birds are continuing. They have had their first win – congratulations to Erik Comacho! Coaching by World Champion Larry Nolan continues. Rain or shine evening training on Thursdays is beginning. New uniforms will arrive in 3-4 weeks. The first promotion, The Altamont Team Time Trial, will be held on April 3rd. There are currently 35 team members. Pat Wai is processing the forms for the Chevron $500 donation to FFBC.
ADVERTISING in FFBC Newsletter/WEBSITE Links
Gary Smith spoke with Newsletter Editor, Burcu Alaybeyi , and we are limited to the number of pictures in each issue. Gary suggested we keep the picture space available for club use. We will add the tour company link since the advertiser is giving the club a 10% discount. Gary will speak with Mark regarding making the addition to a featured panel rather than a link on the home page. Two previous links were removed, as they do not currently offer discounts to club members.
DONATIONS COMMITTEE
Wynn Kageyama, Donations Committee Chair, presented the proposed grants and donations list for FY 2010 for approval to Board members. There was some discussion to eliminate $40 for the EBBC membership (as it as already been completed), and increase the donation to Pacific Locomotive association to from $60 to $100 for the use of their porta-potties. The board approved the final list totaling $2000 and it is to be presented to the membership at the General Meeting later in the evening for voting. Thanks to Wynn for all his hard work.
RIDE SAFETY
Wynn Kageyama stated lane re-striping to provide a left-turn lane pocket will be done in Niles Canyon (HWY 84) to make it safer to cross oncoming traffic and access Palomares Road.
PRIMAVERA
A potential Primavera rider has an issue with a portion of the statement (#3) currently used in the Primavera Wavier. He disagrees that he should have to release liability for other participants in the ride. The rider has ridden the Primavera in the past and has signed the wavier; the wavier has not changed. Gary Smith will follow-up with Jan Green, Primavera Chair, to contact the insurance company and get more information regarding our release/wavier.
EARLY BIRD RENEWAL DRAWING
The drawing will take place in the General Meeting.
MISCELLANEOUS
Wynn Kageyama mentioned Earth Day is on Saturday, April 24 and the City of Fremont is looking for participants. One idea is to have club members volunteer to organize and staff bike parking for Earth Day attendees. If you are interested or have any other ideas, please contact Wynn.
Garry Birch is arranging for the inventor of The Pump Hub to attend our May meeting to talk about his product and do a demonstration.
