FFBC BOARD MEETING
DATE: March 4, 2010
ATTENDANCE
Gary Smith (President), Nikki Grimes (Vice President), Iris Goldman (Treasurer), Lori Sommer (Secretary), Jorge Gildelatorre (Ride Calendar), Garry Birch (Race Team President/Club Liaison)
CALL TO ORDER / MINUTES
Gary Smith called the Board Meeting to order at 6:35PM. The meeting adjourned at 7:27PM. Minutes for the previous month were approved.
TREASURER REPORT
Iris reported the balances for the three accounts: Bank of America Checking, Bank of America CD and Fremont Bank CD. She will post them in the Yahoo group for members to access and review.
RIDE COORDINATOR
Jorge Gildelatorre noted we do not have many ride leaders stepping up to lead weekend rides. The 2009 lists of number of miles ridden, number of rides lead, etc. is being compiled and awards will be presented at the Primavera Worker’s Party. The fact that Cinderella Training Rides are listed in the Calendar on a Saturday, but due to rain, are occasionally actually done on Sunday was brought up. Discussion of the training series being paid for by the students, the fact that it happens infrequently, the fact that the short-notice requirement doesn’t really apply in these circumstances led to the Board voting and approving Pedal Pounders credit for makeup Cinderella Training Rides. Jorge will ask Mark to update the website posting for Pedal Pounder information.
RACE TEAM
Racing has started according to Garry Birch. World Champion Larry Nolan continues to mentor the team. Thursdays evening’s training has been well attended. There have been a few injuries. The second Velodrome Day at Hellyer Park had 14 attendees from the club and team. The first promotion, The Altamont Team Time Trial, will be held on April 3rd. Planning for the second promotion, Calaveras Road Time Trial, is underway. Last year’s team clothing is for sale. Leftovers will be donated to Wynn’s Newark Junior High program. Tri-suits will be ordered.
CINDERELLA TRAINING RIDES
Gary Smith mentioned that he had received a couple of complaints from hearing-impaired students. Judy Young, from the Cinderella Planning Committee, attended the meeting along with Becky Denevan, a Cinderella Training ride leader with sign-language interpreter experience. Specifics of the complaints were discussed. It was determined that in the future, the planning committee should include a questionnaire regarding student disabilities so ride leaders and student riders can be aware of the situation.
