FROM THE SUMMIT
April was an eventful month for FFBC.
Many of our members enjoyed the Cinderella ride. The organizers and leaders of the Cinderella Training Rides did a great job of preparing riders for this event. Now that the event is past, I hope the Cinderella Training riders will continue riding with the club.
Although we had rain for the Primavera, rider feedback was mostly positive, and the riders all returned safely. I want to thank the Primavera Organizing Committee for all their work planning this event. In particular, I want to thank Jan Green for her tireless efforts and strong commitment to make the Primavera an even better event than it has been in past years. Egbert Vallecillo has stepped up to be the Primavera Chair for 2011. Let’s all support Egbert as he leads the effort to plan the 2011 Primavera.
We shared a table with East Bay Bicycle Coalition at Fremont’s Earth Day Event. We talked to a number of high school students and adults who are interested in cycling. Our friend Alan, from the Bicycle Garage, was there and performed safety checks and some bike repairs for visitors to the event. A woman who uses her vintage Schwinn bike as her primary means of transportation showed up with a brake part that had fallen off, and Alan repaired it for her. We also met a couple of Fremont City Council Members at the event.
The month of May might be less eventful than April for FFBC. However, May marks the beginning of this year’s ever popular pizza rides. We also celebrate Memorial Day in May, giving weekend riders an extra day of riding this month, hopefully with less rain than we’ve had in the first few months of the year. The May Ride Calendar is the best we have had in months. Each weekend day has at least one planned ride to choose from. Let’s enjoy these rides!
Primavera volunteers, thank you again for all the work you did to make it a great day for the riders.
I’ll see you on a ride soon.
