FROM THE SUMMIT
May was an exciting month for fans of professional road racing. The Amgen Tour of California came through the Bay Area. While many of us watched it on television, some of our members had the chance to see parts of it in person. The race helps show many people what great cycling we have here in California. Many of us also watched the Giro d’Italia on television. I enjoyed being able to catch some of the live coverage before going to work in the morning. I rode in Italy last year, and I’m going on another cycling trip there this year. Watching the Giro made me really look forward to my upcoming trip.
Bike to Work Day took place in May. At the meeting proclaiming Bike to Work Day, the Fremont City Council also recognized long time member Ed Tanaka for his contributions to the cycling community. Please join me in congratulating Ed on this honor.
Pizza Rides began in May and will continue this month. These rides are a great opportunity to get in a ride during the week and enjoy some pizza afterward.
I’ll see you on a ride soon.
