CALL TO ORDER / MINUTES
Gary Smith called the Board Meeting to order at 6:36PM.  The meeting adjourned at 7:24PM.  Minutes for the previous month were approved.

TREASURER REPORT
Iris reported the balances for the three accounts: Bank of America Checking, Bank of America CD and Fremont Bank CD.  She will post them in the Yahoo group for members to access and review.

RIDE COORDINATOR

  • Jorge Gildelatorre said the weekend calendar filled nicely.
  • The Ride Leader Incentive clothing rewards cannot be filled as the club-clothing inventory is low.  Jorge discussed the idea of converting arm-warmer and sock awards to some gift card value similar to the current award choice for jersey/vest or $50 Bike Garage gift card.  The arm warmers have been ordered.  After discussion, it was determined the club should wait for clothing to be ordered before giving out the incentive awards.  Jorge will speak to Ed Tanaka, the FFBC Clothing Coordinator.  The board would like Ed to attend the next Board Meeting to discuss the order.

RACE TEAM

  • Garry Birch noted the Thursday evening coaching with Larry Nolan is going well.
  •  The Altamont Team Time Trial brought in an estimated $1,000 profit.  Entries were down due to conflicts with other events.  There were no issues.  $200 of proceeds was donated to NCNCA’s matching fund for Jeremy Regalado.  Jeremy was fatally electrocuted while setting up a communications antenna before a road race near Oakdale.
  • The new Race Team photos are completed and posted on the web site.
  • On May 22, the Calaveras Time Trial event will take place.  There are 88 entries to date.  Planning is well underway.  Club members are encouraged to help.
  • The Chevron funds ($500)will be spent in a way that is beneficial to the Club, like purchasing equipment that can be used by the Club as well as the Race Team.  A second Chevron grant has been submitted.
  • Bill Brier is trying to raise a team for the Peninsula Tour de Cure.
  • Garry has received a quote for Specialized water bottles and will forward it.
  • The race team has equipment available for loan to the Club.  The equipment includes wheels and trainers.  Please contact Garry Birch for details.

MISCELLANEOUS
Nikki Grimes has submitted her resignation as Vice President.  She will be moving.  Gary Smith thanked Nikki for her service.  Gary will ask club members at the General Meeting if anyone is interested in completing Nikki’s term.  Gary asked the board to begin deciding if they will seek an additional term.  A nominating committee needs to be formed.

PRIMAVERA
There was roughly $4,000 profit (budget projected $10,000).  We only had 12 same-day registrants due to the rain.

  • Gary Smith announced that Ed Tanaka was honored for his service to the bicycling community at the recent Fremont City Council Meeting as part of Bike to Work Week.  Joyce Tanaka and Wynn Kageyama attended the meeting.

PROGRAM
Kevin Manning demonstrated his innovative idea, an automatic tire inflation system.  The tire pump is inside the wheel hub and operates through wheel rotation.  The Pump-HubTM turns on with a switch and automatically shuts off when the tire is fully inflated.  The pump operates as the bike is ridden to bring the tire up to a preset tire pressure.  If the tire is flat, after the tube is changed/repaired, the wheel can be spun and the pump will bring it up to a level of rideable inflation and then the bike can be ridden to bring the tire up to full pressure.  Currently, there is a special price of $499 for a Velocity wheelset.  Kevin and Scott had brochures available at the meeting.  The phone number is (510) 272-0819 for more information.  The web page is www.pump-hub.com
