BOARD MEETING MINUTES
FFBC BOARD MEETING
DATE: June 3, 2010
ATTENDANCE
Gary Smith (President), Iris Goldman (Treasurer), Karen White (Director-at-Large), Lori Sommer (Secretary), Jorge Gildelatorre (Ride Calendar), Garry Birch (Race Team President/Club Liaison)
CALL TO ORDER / MINUTES
Gary Smith called the Board Meeting to order at 6:36PM. The meeting adjourned at 7:20PM. Minutes for the previous month were approved.
TREASURER REPORT
Iris reported the balances for the three accounts: Bank of America Checking, Bank of America CD and Fremont Bank CD. She will post them in the Yahoo group for members to access and review.
RIDE COORDINATOR
- Jorge Gildelatorre said the June calendar is filling with rides.
- The Ride Leader Incentive Awards: Jorge determined that five out of the seven ride leaders chose the gift certificate rather than the club jersey/jacket as their award so those awards can be delivered. There are plenty of socks and the arm-warmers are on order.
- Garry Birch will try to setup a Sunnyvale Sports Basement ride in July after he checks the racing calendar.
RACE TEAM
- On May 22, 2010, the Calaveras Time Trial event took place. There were 211 rides and 195 athletes. The fastest time for the 10-mile distance was 00:21:06. There were no issues with the park or railroad. The Jazz Café supplied power for the computer and provided parking spaces directly in front of the café to set up the registration tent. The NCNCA officials did have a timing error of one minute, which was rectified.
- The second Chevron grant has been revised and resubmitted.
MISCELLANEOUS
- The Vice President position is open but no one has responded to Gary Smith’s email asking for a volunteer to complete the term. Karen White volunteered to serve on the Nominating Committee. Gary will make an announcement at the General Meeting to see if anyone is interested in the VP position or in heading or joining the Nominating Committee.
- Ed Tanaka stated the club has a good stock of “new” jerseys and socks. 35 red arm warmers from Louis Garneau are ordered and delivery is expected in 2-3 weeks. Other colors can be ordered if the quality is good. (Voler was contacted five months ago but arm warmers cannot be ordered from them without an accompanying jersey order.) We are low on the old style jersey with only larger sizes available. Ed is considering ordering a convertible jacket/vest (with removable sleeves) rather than ordering separate jackets and vests with club logos.
- A bike education section will be added to the FFBC web site. The Board discussed the current lack in obtaining and keeping copies of the club’s accident forms. It was decided Lori Sommer (Secretary) would send out an email requesting that when ride leaders submit an accident form to the insurance company that they also send a copy to the FFBC Secretary for filing.
- The Board discussed and agreed that if club ride leaders cancel their ride due to weather, that the ride can convert to a Show and Go and Pedal Pounder mileage will be awarded.
PRIMAVERA
Iris Goldman reported the actual profit from the 2010 Primavera to be $3,650.
