FROM THE SUMMIT

As the current term draws to a close, I want to thank the 2009-2010 Board members for their contributions to our club.  Nikki Grimes, Iris Goldman, Lori Sommer, Jorge Gildelatorre, Karen White and Garry Birch all answered the call and stepped up to serve on the Board.  As of this writing, I do not know who all of the 2010-2011 Board members will be.  We will hold elections at the September meeting.  I’m confident that we will elect Board members who will lead the club to new and greater successes.

I want to thank the following volunteers for their service to the club:

• Jan Green has done an outstanding job as Primavera Chair the past two years.  I don’t know yet who Jan’s successor will be.  Jan set the bar high, but I’m sure one of our members will accept the challenge of organizing the 2011 Primavera.   
• Dave Ransom has done a great job in the Membership position for a number of years.  Vanessa McDonnell has volunteered to take over the Membership position.
• Burcu Ozserim has done a great job as Newsletter Editor.  I don’t know yet who our next editor will be.

Some of us responded to the Draft Environmental Impact Report regarding the proposed changes to Niles Canyon Road.  As of now, we don’t know what the final decisions and design will be.  Hopefully the result will be a road that is safe for both cyclists and motorists.
It has been a privilege to serve as FFBC President.  However, it’s time to let someone else enjoy that privilege.  I don’t know yet who my successor will be, but I’m sure we will all join together in supporting the new President and other Board members.
