BOARD MEETING MINUTES
FFBC BOARD MEETING
LOCATION: Fremont Community Activities Center
DATE: March 13, 2012
ATTENDANCE
Conni Smith (Secretary), Terri Yi (Treasurer), Vanessa McDonnell (Ride Coordinator), Egbert Vallecillo (Director-at-Large)
CALL TO ORDER / MINUTES
The Secretary called the meeting to order at 6:34 pm. The Board approved the February 2012 minutes.
TREASURER REPORT
- Terri Yi reviewed the most current financials, including Primavera and Cinderella Training income and expenses. Both programs are doing well. Primavera has 470 pre-registered riders so far.
- Terri will post balances for the three accounts (Bank of America checking, Bank of America CD and Fremont Bank CD) on the Yahoo Group for member access and review.
DIRECT-AT-LARGE
- Egbert said the Thule bike case has been booked in May.
RACE TEAM REPORT (reported at General Meeting by Chris Menicou)
- The Race Team currently has 55 active riders including 11 juniors and 8 women.
- The race season began February 11. The Team participated in the Snelling Road Race in February, has the Regalado later this month and the Wente Road Race in April. Many criteriums and races will follow.
- Recent results: 2 wins, 8 top fives and 7 top tens.
RIDE COORDINATOR
- Vanessa pointed out that the Ride Calendar could use more weekend ride listings and more ride leaders. The same people are leading the majority of the rides. New leaders are welcome.
OLD BUSINESS
- Newsletter: Conni contacted Newsletter Editor Marcella Casebolt and Webmaster Mark Davis about creating an on-line newsletter page to the FFBC website. Marcella asked that any work on this project be delayed until after Cinderella Training and the Primavera. She also suggested creating a blog-type web page that will be easier to create and maintain than a formal monthly newsletter. This will provide a location for members to easily see announcements for a longer time than on the daily Yahoo Group listing. Mark Davis said he is unable to spend more time on the website and would like to find a club member who can help with this project. The Board will address the newsletter issue again later in the Spring.
- New club jersey design: Following last month’s meeting, Conni agreed to post an inquiry on the Yahoo List for anyone interested in creating a new club jersey design but delayed that until after Cinderella Training and Primavera.
NEW BUSINESS
- FFBC jacket reorder: Ed Tanaka, Clothing Manager, attended the Board meeting and reported on his research into various manufacturers’ jacket material, designs and prices. He will contact additional sources and explore having jackets screen-printed separately with FFBC’s name/logo rather than a custom printed order.
- Sponsorship: Vanessa contacted Joel Davis, owner of CyclePros in Pleasanton, for additional information on his request for CyclePros to be an FFBC sponsor and what exactly he expects from the club. She has not heard from him yet.
- Ride incentives for children on Family Rides: Vanessa asked for ideas for providing incentive rewards to children on Family Rides to encourage them to continue riding. She’s looking for a free or inexpensive medal or reward to give each child. Terri Yi suggested Primavera patches from years past. After the locker cleanout last weekend she has hundreds of them to give away.
The meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.
The next Board meeting will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Fremont Community Activities Center on Country Drive, Fremont.
