CALL TO ORDER / MINUTES
The Secretary called the meeting to order at 6:40 pm.  The Board approved the March 2012 minutes.

TREASURER REPORT

  • Terri Yi reviewed the current financials; most activity is related to the Primavera and Cinderella Training income and expenses.  Primavera has approx. 770 pre-registered riders at this time.
  • Terri will post balances for the three accounts (Bank of America checking, Bank of America CD and Fremont Bank CD) on the Yahoo Group for member access and review.

DIRECT-AT-LARGE

  • Egbert reported that two hard case bike carriers have been booked in May.

RACE TEAM REPORT  (reported by email by Chris Menicou)

  • The Race Team currently has 56 members including 10 juniors and 8 women.
  • The team recently competed at the Regalado Road Race on March 25th. We also had junior racers participate on the same day at the Salinas Junior Development Criterium. The team target event for April is on the 28th at the Wente Road Race.

RIDE COORDINATOR

  • Vanessa reported that Pedal Pounder statistics for 2012 have been closed in preparation of awards to be distributed at the Primavera Workers Party.

OLD BUSINESS

  • Newsletter:  Further discussion on this project was delayed until after Cinderella Training and the Primavera.
  • New club jersey design:  Further discussion on this project was delayed until after Cinderella Training and the Primavera.
  • FFBC jacket reorder:  Further discussion on this project was delayed until after Cinderella Training and the Primavera.
  • Sponsorship:  Vanessa wrote to Joel Davis, owner of CyclePros in Pleasanton requesting further specifics on his sponsorship offer but did not hear back from him yet.  The Board felt sponsorship commitments to one business would create issues for the club and decided not to pursue this matter.

NEW BUSINESS

  • 3-Foot-Clearance While Passing Legislation Proposal:  The California Bicycle Coalition (CBC), a non-profit education and lobbying organization alerted the club to pending legislation (SB1464) before the State Senate Transportation & Housing Committee that would require drivers to give bicyclists at least three feet of clearance when passing from behind.  CBC requested bicycle clubs submit letters supporting his issue.  The Board asked the Secretary to send this letter.
  • First Aid Seminar:  FFBC member, Lori Sommer, informed the club and the Board about a first aid seminar being offered     by The Valley Spokesmen bicycle club.  They are subsidizing part of the fee for its members.  This program covers certified CPR training and first aid specific to bicycle accidents.  The FFBC Board unanimously agreed that this program would be valuable for FFBC members also.  Vanessa will contact Denise Chacon, the first aid trainer, about specifics of holding this seminar for FFBC.  The Board agreed to finance this offering in part; decision on how much will be made when additional information is available.

The meeting adjourned at 7:24 pm.

The next Board meeting will be on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Fremont Community Activities Center on Country Drive, Fremont.
