RACE TEAM REPORT (reported by email by Chris Menicou)
- May has already been a busy month for the race team with our first target event, The Cat's Hill Classic held in Los Gatos on Saturday, May 5th. Two Team Fremont riders finished in the top 10: E5 – Geno Uliana 6th Place; J15/16 - Brandon Chen 9th Place.
- On Sunday, May 6th two Team Fremont riders finished in the top 10 at the Turlock Road Race: E4 - Chris Gaitos 3rd Place and E4 – John Lem 9th Place.
- Also on the weekend of the 5th/6th was the Golden State Series two-day Criterium/Circuit Race in Rancho Cordova with:
M4 – Chris Menicou 5th Overall.
- Total team membership is 57, with 8 ladies and 10 juniors. Race Team members were also very pleased to help at the Cedar Mountain rest stop at this year's great Primavera ride.
RIDE COORDINATOR
- The same people are leading the majority of weekly rides and Vanessa would like to see more members try out their ride leading skills. She plans to recruit some of the Cinderella Training leaders to lead general club rides and encourages all members to try their hand at this.
- The Board discussed ride speed and how Moderate rides have become Brisk and Brisk rides have become Fast, discouraging some new and current members. Ride speed and designation is at the ride leader’s discretion. Starting in June, Vanessa plans to post a touring speed ride every weekend.
OLD BUSINESS
- Newsletter: Newsletter Editor, Marcella Casebolt, has ideas about restyling the on-line newsletter. In order to execute these ideas she needs help from someone with web design skills. If interested in helping with this project, please contact Vanessa O’Donnell or Marcella Casebolt.
- New club jersey design: What would members like to see in a new FFBC club jersey? Vanessa will post notice on the Yahoo list for new jersey designs. Members are invited to submit designs and style/color preferences. Non-members are also welcome to submit designs.
- FFBC jacket reorder: Ed is still investigating jacket options.
- Cycling Specific First Aid Seminar: Vanessa requested additional information from Denise, the seminar leader. Two programs are offered: (1) a 4 hour CPR certification and first aid course for a maximum of 10 attendees, or (2) a 2.5 – 3 hour first aid course with no limit on number of attendees for a $350 flat fee. The Board felt the first aid course alone (#2) would better serve the FFBC and its members and is pursuing this option. More information on this soon.
NEW BUSINESS
- Pedal Pounder Policies: Vanessa discovered 5 separate Pedal Pounder policy documents and plans to analyze each, draw up a list of the differences and present these to the Board at a later date for discussion. She hopes to create a workable, comprehensive policy without ambiguities.
- Accident Report Forms: There is some confusion over Accident Report forms: whose responsibility is it to complete and submit the form, where to send the form, who should get a copy. The Board discussed these questions. The ride leader is responsible for completing and submitting the form, but as the form is a product of the insurance company, not FFBC, the Incident Report Instructions say where to send the form but do not mention where to send a copy for FFBC files. Because of time constraints, this topic was carried over to a later date.
The meeting adjourned at 7:42 pm.
