FROM THE SUMMIT Hello Fellow Freewheelers July marks the continuation of the Tour de France, which started on June 30th. During the summer months I don’t get out on my bike as much, since I find myself carting my sons to and fro, but I do enjoy watching the Tour. Who will you be cheering for this year, and do you have a favorite? I don’t want to jinx anything, but let’s just say the person I’ll be cheering for has a brother riding with him in the race, his last name rhymes with peck, and his first name has the word “and” in it. That didn’t give it away I hope. The London Olympics follow the TDF the following week starting on July 27th. Road Races and Time Trials for men and women will be on July 28, 29 and August 1. I’m curious to see who will be racing in the Olympics, that might have ridden the TDF, and to see if they still have the legs for London after France. It should be a good show. The Pizza rides are continuing again this month with Vicki Timmons leading them for July. I know that many of you enjoy this summer tradition! We only have two more months of Pizza rides left and we need volunteers to lead August and September rides still. If you are interested and would like to join in on the fun task of becoming a ride leader for these rides, or others, contact our ride coordinator to help. Happy 4th and have a great July!
