FROM THE SUMMIT

Hello Freewheelers

Well the TDF is over and we have a new champion in Bradley Wiggins.  Cheers!  It was an impressive and exciting race again with and amazing final time trial for him.  There were some surprising crashes, flats caused by tacks, dogs in the road, and Bob Roll commercials that were amusing as always. Cavendish winning the final stage of the tour and Wiggins’ victory was a great lead-in to the 2012 London Olympic Games.   So far the Games have been exciting as well!

Last month was also the Markleeville Death Ride.  This year I was able to join Heather Black, Stephanie Watts, and Amy Reynolds in the cheering on of the riders in Hermits Valley.  With cowbells in hand we cheered on all riders including FFBC’s own Andy Sass and Richard Kraynick as they came in to the rest stop after their 3rd pass and as they left to embark on their 4th.  We had so much fun cheering and the riders kept telling us how much they appreciated our support. Because of this we have decided that we will be out there again next year.  We hope that next year we will be cheering on more of our friends from Fremont and we promise to make you posters too!
