Ranger Dave Martinez Memorial Bike Ride

.

On Monday morning February 11, 2013, a brilliant sun rising over Mission Peak held promise for wonderful things to come that day

Dave Martinez' family, friends, East Bay Regional Park District co-workers and many members of the cycling community gathered at the Quarry Lakes Pavilion to pay tribute to a man who touched many lives during his short time on this earth.

Warming up to the anticipation of the event, participants mingled and chatted with Starbuck's treats in hand. A short pre-ride photo session captured many smiling faces ready to saddle up.

While still in the Quarry Lakes Park, the event began with an unexpected cause for alarm as an FFBC cyclist misjudged her angle off of the sidewalk onto the pavement. EBRPD employees and an EMT staff responded to her within minutes. She was eventually cleared to be transported home, in her personal vehicle.

Photos were taken during and after the ride, finishing at Bronco Billy's Pizza Palace in Niles.

On behalf of Dave's wife Linda, their sons Christopher and Ryan, Dave's brothers Leonard and Dennis and their mother Shirley Martinez, we offer our sincere gratitude to the members of the Fremont Freewheelers Bicycle Club for their love, support, remembrance and participation in honoring past FFBC president Dave Martinez.

Sincerely,
Linda Martinez and Sons Christopher & Ryan
Leonard, Dennis and Shirley Martinez & Families
