Team Membership
59 Total Race Team Members signed-up for the 2013 season.
The Race Team helped out in the Rios Lovell Winery lunch stop for the Primavera FFBC fund raising event.
Ride Coordinator
The May ride calendar is full of ride opportunities. Vanessa commented that the month of May has the most rides ever since she has been a Ride Coordinator. Vanessa also had a discussion with Alan at Bicycle Garage. We might have a monthly “Get to Know You Ride” start from Bike Garage. If Alan has time he may put on mini clinics at the end of the ride.
The ride leader sock incentive is going well. Vanessa has given away 19 pairs of socks.
An ad in Cycle California (free cycle newspaper located at most bike shops) shows an incorrect starting location for the FFBC “Get to Know Us” ride. Vanessa will contact Cycle California to change the starting location.
Pedal Pounders 2012 awards will be given at the next meeting.
Treasurer’s Report
Terri discussed the latest FFBC financial picture. The club paid the EBBC $50 membership fee.
Terri received a letter informing her of an increase in the Adult School classroom rental rate. We will likely need another application for the 6:30pm to 8:30pm time slot and principal approval. We will also pay for the full 12 months.
Final Primavera expenses are not completely in.
Director At Large
Ron explained that it is difficult to get items out of the FFBC storage locker. He thought it would be best to have a deeper or wider storage shed and/or have items on rollers. Most items (such as canopies and signs) are located in the middle and the tables are in the back. We currently pay $200/month for the storage facility located behind Dale’s Hardware near Post Street. Ron will look into a rack with rollers and a larger storage facility.
1 bike case is out.
General Business
CPR Training
Ken is trying to follow up with Alameda County Fire Dept (ACFD Program) to see if they would offer a free class. If not, then we will proceed with the original plan.
Next Term
Gary asked that the officers decide who wants to return to the board for the next cycle (October through September). Nominees are announced in August and the election is held in September.
Constitution and By-Laws
Board members began to review the by-laws and decided to continue the discussion at the next meeting. We will be proposing a few changes to the by-laws: 1) board member must be a member, 2) not have a meeting the month before Primavera. A motion was made to change the by-laws … 1st Ken, 2nd Vanessa motion. Vote will be made at next meeting.
Meeting Adjourned at 7:32pm.
The next Board and General Meetings will be held on Tuesday, June 11th.
FFBC GENERAL MEETING
There was a full classroom in anticipation of Crank 2’s tandem presentation. We had five new members present at the meeting for the first time including Gigi Hansen, Greg Hansen and Timothy Luders.
April Meeting Minutes were approved. Chris presented the race team results. Terri provided the checking account balance. Vanessa discussed the ride calendar. Mark Davis was the Ride Leader Drawing winner for the month of April and won a $25 gift card for Bicycle Garage. Ron mentioned that the two bicycle carriers are available for members to use and to send an email to reserve them. Primavera extra goodies were given out to those present.
General Meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm and the tandem presentation followed. Factoid: 1% of cyclists ride tandems.
