Providing input for online membership strategy

Call to Order: 
Meeting called to order at 6:35PM. The agenda was distributed.

Status of Online membership plans
Ken and Terri presented what has transpired so far. Terri has setup a PayPal account and interface.
Suggestion is that first version would be:
  • Pay online
  • Fill-in online form. Ken will check with Mark Davis about emailing form to Membership Manager. User prints out form, signs it and mails it in.

The group is reviewing with Mark Davis about other online options.
Ken and Terri left at this point.

Membership
The Membership archives were passed onto Becky. It will be put into storage. It isn’t needed for membership activities but is being kept for liability reasons.Meeting Minutes: 

Last month’s Meeting Minutes were reviewed and approved.

Race Team Report – Chris Menicou
Chris presented the Race Team Report, which is inserted below. He highlighted some key points:
  • Had team meeting last night. Membership results are 29 paid members so far – hoping for at least 50.
  • A number of riders are leaving team .
  • Going into Weekly Sunday training until January – good time to start riding with the team.
  • Early Bird criterium racing starts in January; racing will be in Fremont. Typically 20 mi race that lasts about 45 min. Held at Dumbarton Circle – a 1.2 mile course – from 8AM to 4PM. First four Sundays don’t count for points except for CAT 5 riders. In Feb there will be road races in Modesto. Chris will send out a schedule.
  • Sent out movie list but due to Adult Ed logistics, projectors and such couldn’t be set up in time.

2. Race, Ride, Event Update
Tuesday Night Training (TNT):  Meet at 6:30 PM at the Club Sport Fremont parking lot for a local ride and workout.
Thursday Night Training (TNT): Meet at 6:30 PM on Eureka off Stevenson in Fremont.
Off-season weekend team training rides are on Sundays to allow for other ride options on Saturdays. See the FFBC calendar for team rides.

  • Riders are being split into A-B-C ability groups

Mark your calendars:
December 8th Sports Basement in Sunnyvale – 20% off most items for FFBC and Team Fremont! Group rides will also be departing from the location.
Early Bird clinics and training races will start in Fremont every Sunday in January at 7420 Dumbarton Circle. Watch for more info to come on this.

3. Team Membership
29 Total Race Team Members signed-up for the 2014 season so far. Early registration fees are good until December 15th.

Team uniforms for 2014 will be similar in appearance to 2013 (black, red, white).

Ride Coordinator – Vanessa
Monthly calendar activity level is about the same. Expect it to drop a little around the holidays.
Have two volunteers for Progressive Ride series: Jay Gilson and Kevin McDonnell.
Do we have interest in the LAP series? Need a ride leader.
Reminder: Dec 8th: Sports basement has 20% off all day for only FFBC members (bring membership card)

Treasurer’s Report - Julia
Reviewed expense report for Oct.
      Some Primavera expenses – Permits and other long term expenses
      4 month old receipts paid
      Storage 12/1 payment (yearly payment)
Made all donations for last year expect for a $250 donation waiting for a letter from Lori who’s waiting for the donation recipient to create it.
No other budget issues

General Topics - Gary
Membership Renewal: In the past had early renewal incentives (a pool of about $150 in prizes) that seemed to work. The club needs to get an early count as the basis for our liability insurance.
Winter Party: Talked to Julie Gilson. No agreement yet, but will probably be held in January or February.
Cinderella Training Rides: Vicki T will have first meeting next week
Dec. Meeting: Agreed to skip meeting due to holidays
Presentations at Meetings: Louis suggested getting James Rardin from Centripedal Bike shop to come and give a talk.

The Board Meeting was adjourned at 7:35PM. Louis motioned for adjournment and Julia seconded it.

Meeting opened at 7:35PM.
Asked if there were any changes or corrections to the prior months minutes. No issues.

Income: Most income is coming from clothing at this point.

Storage rent increased due to larger storage locker

Vanessa voted to approve budget. Becky seconded it. Budget was approved.
No other budget issues

General Topics - Gary
No program for tonight’s meeting. Tentatively scheduling a movie – “Bicycle Dreams” – for January.
No meeting in December. Next meeting January 14th.
Suggest we setup track date at Velodrome. Noted that there is a beginner session every Saturday morning.
