FROM THE SUMMIT
We share an enthusiasm for cycling. Most of us ride because we enjoy it. Even when the ride is tough, many of us would prefer to be on the bike than somewhere else. When you’re sitting at home watching TV, you might wish you were out on the bike. However, when you’re riding, you probably don’t dream about sitting in front of the TV. The same goes for mowing the lawn, cleaning bathrooms, doing laundry, etc.
We have reached the time of year when many of us participate in centuries or bike tours. You may have already ridden at least one century this year. If you’re planning a century or tour, you are probably highly motivated to ride. Having a challenge on the horizon makes you focus more on your training. It causes you to push yourself a little more, maybe riding longer distances or climbing more hills than you otherwise would.
If you go on a bike trip this year, think about showing your pictures at a club meeting. Some of the most interesting meeting programs we’ve had involved a member showing his/her pictures of a cycling adventure.
May marks the return of pizza rides, giving members more opportunities to participate in club rides. Bike to Work Day take place on May 8.
