FROM THE SUMMIT
We had an outstanding Primavera. Riders and volunteers have spoken very highly of it. The food trucks were popular. By and large this year’s Primavera was a safe event. We had to submit one accident report to our insurance company. Ideally that number would be zero. However, it indicates that a high percentage of Primavera participants enjoyed a safe ride. The Primavera planning committee, led by Andy Sass, is already looking at ways to make next year’s event even better. To all the volunteers, thank you again for all the work you did to make the Primavera a success.
Some of us went out to see the Amgen Tour of California riders in person as they raced through the area. Some of us watched it on television. It amazed me how fast they could climb Mt. Hamilton and Mt. Diablo on the same hot day. I have climbed each but not on the same day. Each is a challenge, and the professional racers climb them at an average speed that most of us can only dream of.
On a ride on the Memorial Day weekend, I saw two members that I hadn’t seen for months. It’s fun to go on a club ride and see people you haven’t seen for a while. If you haven’t been on a club ride lately, show up for one. You never know who might be there. Better yet, lead a ride and see who shows up.
Plans are under way for a holiday party this year. The tentative date is December 14. Look for more details in the coming months.
If you are going on a multi-day bike adventure this year, have a safe and fun trip. Think about showing your trip pictures at a club meeting. We enjoy seeing the pictures that members take on their cycling adventures.
