Race Team Report – Chris Menicou
Chris reviewed the Race Team highlights last month:
The team had a recent meeting to focus on the crashes in the Early Bird races. They reflected on how these crashes may be prevented in the future. The biggest “take home” was to be focus on the situation around you and pay attention as to how close you are to the tire in front of you. Be alert, protect your front tire and work on being comfortable in the pack.
- In the San Bruno hill climbs there were 5 top ten finishers
- There are now 76 team members on the roster
- Reminder on Tuesday and Thursday night training
Chris provided the following race team results later by email. This is for December & January events.

Director-at-Large – Trish Conklin
Supplied food for the meeting.
No news to report.
Treasury Report – Julia Walker
No significant changes to the ledger – December was a quiet month. In the next few weeks will be depositing all the Primavera registration income (over 500 Primavera entrants so far). Insurance was paid – it’s gone up by about 30%.
Ride Coordinator – Dave Fishbaugh
This is the first month of bigger rides:
- PRS
- LAPS
- Cinderella rides
It is time to do a review of the “Ride Leader Incentive” program. When the program was setup the Board said to give it 3 months and then review. We are at that point.
Dave has felt the trial created no special buzz nor complaints, but did create a lot of extra work for Julia – requiring her to write lots of checks. So far in 3 months about $500 has been paid out in incentives – this was spread amongst about 40 people. [For reference the Primavera pizza party cost about $400] Dave feels we can do better than the individual incentive and proposes to review the issue and present an alternative approach at the next Board meeting.
General Discussion - Luis Facha
Membership Drawing for Early Bird Renewal will be held at the February meeting.
Hayward has notified Luis of a Bike Rodeo sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce on May 16, 2015. They have invited the FFBC to attend and will provide a booth if we are interested.
We were reminded of our Lifetime Membership award. We will discuss at the next meeting.
Surplus monies in account – at a future meeting we will start a discussion on the reserve that the FFBC requires in its accounts. Based on number we will be able to determine if we have surplus money and whether we need to change our spending or savings amounts. One area this could impact is Primavera donations.
Becky Denevan, our membership manager, made a presentation. She said that online PayPal has reduced the workload significantly. She asked if we can change the policy on membership cards. Her proposal was to send an image of a membership card via email. Those members who wanted a hard copy could then print them out. The Board voted on the idea and it was accepted unanimously.
Julia proposed that her husband, Dave, make a presentation for the next General meeting. She said she would get back to the Board if that works.
Board Meeting Adjourned
7:20PM: Chris proposed the meeting be adjourned. Julia seconded it. Meeting adjourned.
FFBC GENERAL MEETING
Meeting opened at 7:30 PM.
Asked if there were any changes or corrections to the previous month’s minutes. No issues. Minutes accepted.

Director-at-Large – Trish Conklin
Supplied excellent food for the meeting.
Treasurer – Julia Walker
December was a quiet month. The only major expense was the club party. There are a lot of deposits to be made for the Primavera registrations.
The club budget was supposed to have been approved in November but couldn’t because of the meeting cancellation. So the budget approval was moved to this evening. Julia moved that the group vote on the approval of the budget. Becky Denevan approved and Ron Mitchell seconded it. It was voted on by the meeting and approved unanimously.
Ride Coordinator – Dave Fishbaugh
Dave made his proposal to end the “per-rider” incentive program. He said that he would review the subject and make a proposal at the next meeting.
