Race Team Report – Chris Menicou
The race season has officially started. The team just finished up the early bird races. Despite the number of crashes in the early races, the team had a number of top ten finishes in Early Bird races 4 & 5. Before the #4 & 5 races the team did a number of focused practices on riding techniques in packs. That paid off in the crash free results.
Of particular note, the lady’s team looks very strong starting this season.
Chris reviewed the Race Team highlights last month.
  • There are now 74 paid team members on the roster which includes 17 ladies and 16 juniors
  • Ongoing reminder on Tuesday and Thursday night training

Chris provided the following race team results later by email. This is for February events.

Director-at-Large – Trish Conklin
Supplied food for the meeting even though she was sick and couldn't attend!

Treasury Report – Julia Walker
Primavera Registration hit 900!! Yeah!
Minor expenses this month. Memberships are still coming in. The account balance is up.
Club insurance was paid – it’s up by 30% over last year. Officers and Director’s insurance was paid.
The issue of the $500 deductible invoice on the Franco claim was brought up. Everyone felt that Franco should take some responsibility in this all. The Board asked BobM to talk to the race team and see about getting Franco to take responsibility for the deductible.

Ride Coordinator – Dave Fishbaugh
Dave will be handling the March rides and will be sending out the March submission deadline next week.
Dave made his proposal for a new rider’s incentive. The general structure was to have a party – similar to the Primavera workers party – either 2 or 4 times per year. The general concept was accepted so Dave will continue and detail out the idea further.

General Discussion - Luis Facha
Development of Agenda – Luis will take over. This should include sending out an announcement to club members at least one week before meeting with details on the presentation for the General Meeting.

Board Meeting Adjourned
7:25PM: Chris proposed the meeting be adjourned. Julia seconded it. Meeting adjourned.

FFBC GENERAL MEETING

Meeting opened at 7:30 PM.
Asked if there were any changes or corrections to the previous month’s minutes. No issues. Minutes accepted.

There were no club members present for the general meeting, but there was one outside representative who want to present to the club. Because there were no club members we skipped all the presentations, except for Julia.

Treasurer – Julia Walker
Julia oversaw the selection of the winners of the Club’s Early Registration gift card drawing. The winners were:
$25 Bike Garage Gift Card – Steve Moore
$25 REI Gift Card – Michael Leung
$25 CentraPedal Gift Card – Bharathi Lingala
$25 Chipotle Gift Card – Leslie Lyle Nethercott
$25 Peets – Sandra King
Congratulations to the winners and we thank everyone who rushed to register early to become a member of the club. Your memberships are crucial. These cards will be mailed out to the winners in the next week.

General Topics – Luis Facha
No general issues, however there was a presentation by Andrew Setikas, Director, NA Business Development at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Fremont.
Andrew is working within Thermo Fisher to create a corporate sponsored open house and charity ride that would support their goals around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in Fremont and beyond. He is very early in the process but has been getting a lot of positive feedback within his company and would like to see if it’s possible to team up the Freewheelers in developing this ride.
They are also looking at bringing in other corporate sponsors like Tesla, and Pro biking partners like Freddie Rodriguez and his foundation.
Andrew and Thermo Fisher are in the very early planning stages but are looking to initially have a representative within their committee from the Freewheelers to allow our two groups to have a strong conduit of communication. From there we can see where things go and how we might be able to mutually support each other.
There will be some FFBC_list emails going out as things develop further.

Newsletter – This topic wasn’t brought up but needs to be mentioned again. We still need someone to take over Marcella’s responsibility on the newsletter. Please consider helping.

Meeting adjourned
Approx 8:30 PM
