As a club we are no longer sending out general messages to our Yahoo Group, FFBC_List. Instead messages will be sent to our new messaging service, Groups.io. In addition there will now be two messaging groups instead of the previous single group. The two groups are:
info@ffbc.groups.io
This is a publicly viewable group. Anyone can request to be part of this group and they will be automatically added. All prior members of the Yahoo FFBC_List group are now members of this group.
This group is intended to be used for information that would be useful for both members and folks outside the club. This group is public and should contain information that is pertinent to events or rides that are on the official club calendar. Examples of this are:
- Ride cancellations or changes
- Short notice rides
- Show and Go suggestions
- Club meeting announcements
To view the webpage for either group go to: https://groups.io/g/ffbc and login.
discussion@ffbc.groups.io
This is a private group that is only viewable by FFBC members. All prior members of the Yahoo FFBC_List group are now members of this group. Future FFBC members will be added to this group. If someone requests to be a a member of this group, they will be reviewed first by the group manager to make sure they are a member.
This group is intended to be used for internal club discussions – typically bicycle related topics that might be of general interest to others and that might spawn further discussion. Examples might be:
- Club-only events or meetings
- Bicycle equipment/recalls
- Bike equipment for sale
- Discussions about biking related topics
To view the webpage for either group go to: https://groups.io/g/ffbc and login.
Other notes:
- Do I need yet another account with another password that I can’t remember?
No. You only need to create an account if you want to use the web interface. - How do I post a message to the private group?
Simply send an email to discussions@ffbc.groups.io instead of the current ffbc_list@yahoogroups.com. - How do I post a message to the public group?
First, make certain you want to do this. Posting to this should be for information that should be publicly available. If you decide that it is appropriate, then simply send an email to info@ffbc.groups.io. - I don’t want to have a groups.io account, but I want to change the settings on my account. How do I do this?
Send an email to info+help@ffbc.groups.io. It will reply with a list of things you can do to change the settings on your account without using the web page. - I’m an early adopter and want to join now. What do I have to do?
Send an email to info+subscribe@ffbc.groups.io and complete the process. Then send an email to discussions@ffbc.groups.io and you will be part of that group instantly.. Unfortunately, you have to do it serially. Note that this is not the case when the data is transferred from Yahoo because it automatically adds you to both accounts.
