All good things must end sometime! Saying thanks to Byron and Peggy and farewell to Crank2 for their 10 years of supporting the cycling community. Thanks to Walt Thomas for the photos and Lori Sommer for the contribution.
Becky Smith took on a new challenge this year when she trained for and participated in the Team Fremont Calaveras Time Trial. Photo 1 shows Becky lining up for her start. She shows us her excellent number placement. She started well and finished strong. Way to go Becky!
Laura and Daryl Spano did a wonderful century ride in Hayfork, CA called the Bigfoot Century. It was one of the best century rides out there! They had such a great time that next year they want to get a group of riders together to attend. There were only 72 riders total (and about 30 on the 115 and 126 mile routes). In the first 70 miles they only saw 7 cars! A local reporter saw them on their tandem and added the to an article she was doing on the ride.
The pictures don’t do the views justice! Hayfork is locatted on the edge of the Trinity-Shasta National Forest and if you look close you can see Mt. Shasta in a couple of the photos. Photos and story from Laura Spano.

The FFBC meeting on May 10 featured Supervisor Scott Haggerty and his Chief of Staff for operations, Dawn P. Argula speaking about future plans for bike trails. He included an update on the status of expanding the trail connectivity in Niles Canyon as well as a brief overview of the Alameda County Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan and the Transportation Expenditure Plan.
Sunday, May 22, 100K ride on Mines Road to the Junction Cafe. Pictured are Jim Fehrle (with equine friend), Myvan Quoc, Jacqueline Mertz, Mike Moore and Julie Gilson. It was an unusually cool (for late-May) but quite scenic ride. (Photos: Dave Fishbaugh)
May 10, Tuesday Show-and-Go at Mission Coffee after Ron Mitchell’s Tour of Fremont. From the left: Lambert Caulfield, Tina Perez, Ron Mitchell, Jon Graff and Donna Boomershine. (Photo from Jon Graff, I don’t know who took it!)

May 24, Tuesday Show-and-Go adorning Becky Smith with Birthday Ride Bling. From the left: Sydney Friedenberg, Randy Fewel, Becky Smith, Lambert Caulfield, Herman Rosenbaum and Donna Boomershine at the Warm Springs Starbucks. Happy Birthday, Becky! You sure know how to celebrate! (Photo from Sydney Friedenberg and probably taken by some random, kind person walking by).
May 24, Tuesday Show-and-Go also stopped by Urban Bike Fitters to check out the folding bikes. Will Becky Smith buy it? “I have too many bikes,” said no cyclist ever!!! (Photos: Randy Fewel)
