Treasury Report – Julia Walker:

Gave Club account balance. Many Primavera checks are in with no significant expenses yet, so we are in the surplus portion of the Primavera budgetary cycle. We are close to sellout with the ride.

Ride Coordinator – Dave Fishbaugh:

About 40 people turned up at the Ride Leader Appreciation part at the Newark Round Table Pizza place. It was within budget – Dave felt it was successful. Next time Dave recommends we try a new place. As part of the event Dave did “white Elephant” awards for various categories:

Dave also said that the ride calendar for February looks good.

Race Team Report – Chris Menicou:

Chris noted this is early race season. There have been only a couple events so far, for example the bump circuit race by Wente. Two new riders, Derrick Stedman and Scott Morin have been doing very well.

The member level is at 51 at this point. Eight juniors and three women. There will be a second round of signups in February.

Saturday workouts have started at more than 60 miles and 4500 ft of climbing.

Director-at-Large – Trish Conklin:

Trish was not present but did provide some excellent refreshments. According to her they were:

Strange nibbles this evening. Chocolate beet cupcakes with espresso. They may or may not have a crème fraiche and poppy seed topping (be forewarned they are a bit dry) or perhaps just powdered sugar. There will also be a lemon and blueberry, or raspberry pudding cupcake topped with a dusting of powdered sugar.  The bottoms of these are a bit mushy, hence the pudding part, but no worries, they are thoroughly cooked.

General Discussion:

For this meeting there was an excellent presentation by Urban Bike fitters on their bike fitting machines and tools.

The meeting was adjourned around 9PM.

Primavera

PRIMAVERA CENTURY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The 2016 Primavera Century has about 900 riders registered so far. Looks like another sellout this year. The Primavera’s success depends on your help.

Volunteer registration is now open. Register online at:

Volunteers

We prefer that FFBC members volunteer instead of riding. There will be a workers ride the weekend before the Primavera. While volunteering is preferred, it is OK to sign-up and pay to ride.

It is also OK to do both as there are many volunteer positions that are not during the ride, such as route marking, shopping and Saturday prep. Bike sweep is actually riding during the ride, but it is with the last people to finish.

You do not have to be an FFBC member to volunteer so invite your friends, family and neighbors to volunteer.
Dennis Crovella, Volunteer Coordinator

FUTURE ROAD CLOSURE – Calaveras Road

The SFPUC will continue to work with Alameda and Santa Clara county staff to temporarily close Calaveras Road south of Geary Road to the project site for an 18 month period starting June 2016, weekdays only. The closure is necessary to protect the safety of the public on the road, while large trucks haul sands and gravels to the site.

The member level is at 48 at this point. Three juniors and two others from last year’s team went to some Pro teams and a Sacramento team. There will be a second round of signups in February.

Ride Coordinator – Dave Fishbaugh:

Jan 31st is the ride leader recognition party.

Director-at-Large – Trish Conklin:

Nothing new to report. All bike boxes have been returned.

Trish made a puff pastry with raspberry, brie and bacon as well as a twice cooked potato with thyme, chives and parmigiana cheese for the event. You really shouldn’t miss out.

Treasury Report – Julia Walker:

Account balance is good. First Primavera checks are coming in. The biggest Dec expense was the Holiday Party.

Julia did a survey and got very positive response on the Holiday Party. The negative feedback was: a) When they ran out of food and took too long to replace, b) Wine was expensive. Otherwise everyone enjoyed the event.

General Discussion:

Urban Bike Fitters wanted to do a talk about bike fitting. Board agreed that would work in February. Next we need to decide if the meeting should be at the Urban Fitters bike shop or not.

Bob presented the Minutes website approach. The concept is to host both the General Minutes and the Newsletter on a website (initially on a free WordPress.com site and eventually on the ffbc.org site). That will mean that the website will be accessible by the public.

Donation Process: The Board felt the process was fine the way it was and there were no recommended changes.
